CURRENT CONCERNS

McNeil River Alliance is very concerned about the recent ADFG survey regarding proposed wheeled landings at McNeil River for the one carrier who is asking to be permitted. The governing statute for the Sanctuary puts the “permanent protection of brown bears and other fish and wildlife and their habitat” first, before any “human use.”

Surely wheeled landings would jeapordize habitat and displace bears. We will provide talking points and information here as to what the public can do to oppose the sweeping changes proposed to the mangagment of McNeil River by the Alaska Department of Fish and Game.
